That is such a great story, rich in so many details: Senegalese rapper Akon and U.S. civil rights activist Jesse Jackson attending the opening ceremonies; imams being urged to "read the holy Koran in the mosques simply to ask Allah to preserve us from the punishment this monument of shame risks bringing on Senegal"; complaints of soviet-style realism; an African statue built by North Korean laborers in Senegal; the Eiffel Tower cited - this story has got it all.
