peter - the way my portfolio's been going recently, i would not take any recommendation from me as anything but an excuse to run for the exits...

but the reasons for being long qntm - there are really just two -

1. dlt. qntm has a commanding and profitable position in high end tape storage. this gives it diversification and perhaps protection if a new price war - an intensification of what seg did at the end of the third calendar quarter - breaks out.

2. relative strength. while the ibd rs numbers put wdc at 18, qntm is holding at 91. while i certainly don't use rs as a buy signal, it is telling me that the market has supported qntm better than wdc. plug in wdc and qntm in the si chart generator to get a graphic representation of this.

as i said, however, if you'd done the opposite of what i've done in the past few weeks, you'd have done very well.
