Sam, I agree with your thoughts and the posted analysis.

We're at the confluence of many streams: global climate change, global debt, crude oil depletion. At the same time in the United States, there appears to be an economic inversion caused by unfettered and corrupt capitalism, immune to reform and re-regulation.

There's more, of course. We can analyze each from many standpoints: economic, financial, political, moral, interest-based, and so on.

This goes far beyond derivatives. When and as these streams meet, we and the world will encounter stresses previously unseen in our existence. Perhaps a new thread is the place to discuss this.
