Thean

Thanks for the response. How have the events in the general market over the past two weeks influenced your views/trading strategy, if at all?

Thanks again.

Mike

Thean...On down days with the drillers, it seems that one of the best of these stocks to day-trade long is GW; It seems to thrive in a down market. Comments?
****Between your market timing abilities, M.Simmons working knowledge, and all who participate...this board really shows off the best of SI.

Hi, Thean

Stocks in a secular bull market (such as the oil drillers and services the past year) usually trade within their channels while backfilling/consolidating before a prolonged breakout. Have you found trading the short-term channels more profitable than buying in the oversold territory and then waiting for the next breakout?

In the semi equipmakers (while they were in a strong uptrend) the second strategy would have worked better for me. On AMAT I would have made more with less effort just holding for the breakouts rather than the multiple times I traded in and out. Of course a nimble day/week trader would have done much better, but that trading style is a bit more stressful for most.

Thanks for your views.
