I don't think everyone wants to be a Seattle garbage collector. Most people have a profession in which they find meaning, and would not switch for more money, baring duress. I break down Waste Management's offer this way:

60,507 wage
13,614 overtime
74,121 sub Total

5,670 employer FICA contribution
15,000 retirement contribution
6,000 healthcare contribution (empl pays $50/month, WM pays balance)

That totals $100,791. The remaining amount might be workman's comp, unemployment insurance, uniforms/cleaning, and educational assistance. Total compensation costs claimed by the company seem to add up.

Most of us don't realize the total amount that we cost our employer.
