I discovered that the DJIA is also only a price index, just like the S&P 500 only reflects prices, i.e., it doesn't contain the contribution of reinvested dividends. There is a separate index for the djia that figures the dividends just like the S&P500 has a separate total return index (see previous post). Today (Monday) the DOW closed at 11,005.97 and last Friday (latest available DJIA TR) closed at 19,480.12.
