You don't use correlation for determining the date of Obama's inauguration. Correlation is the relationship between variables, for example, the amount of street crime and the time of day. Correlations are identified as coincidences of data via statistical analysis and used for predictive purposes. The date of Obama's inauguration is established in the Constitution where it appears for all to see. No variables. No relationships. No statistics. Thus nothing to correlate. You find them by looking them up just as you would any fact.
