I agree that there is both a moral and legal difference between the two. That's why I keep complaining about (and you keep ignoring) the fact that the media is reporting ALL CASES as pedophilia when some were pedophilia, but most were with post pubescent teenagers. All the actual abusers (no matter the age or sex of abused), should have been kept away from other children, teenagers etc... No doubt about that. There were quite a number of crimes and mistakes made. But once you make the distinction above (something the media refuses to do in order to brainwash the haters and others like you), it helps you understand all the causes of the problem, how they can be fixed etc.... and why those in power behaved the way they did. At times, those in power made errors in judgment, received bad advice, and were ignorant of sexual matters. People like that should removed from power, but should be allowed to remain within the church. At times there were clear cut crimes and cover ups etc... People like that should have been legally prosecuted and defrocked ASAP after due process in the church (which is a lot like a court process with appeals etc.. and takes a long time) while being kept away from children and teenagers in the mean time. However, if you call them all pedophilia and think in terms of the modern understanding of sexuality, joe knucklehead that doesn't know any better is going to be calling for the head of some ignorant bishop that in 1950 immediately sent an offending priest for treatment and recommendation from psychiatrists, followed the recommendation, reported the problem to the subsequent parish, etc... and felt that he did everything the right way. He might have been an stupid schmuck, but he didn't know better. It's the guys that knew better, covered things up, and knowingly put others at danger that we want to focus our attention on. There were plenty of those, but not as many as the appearance given by the agenda based media coverage that you read. The thing is, the hate mongers are not interested in any of this because their motivation is the destruction of the church, not facts, understanding, or actual justice.
