OT: Yeah, prolly not 20X faster. I was just considering that a chili or Italian bean soup that I'd set in the crock pot while I was at work (10 hours or so) can be done easily in under 30 minutes. That's 20X, but doesn't mean the cooking is 20X faster.

Also, re: microwaving pasta - the same trick works for rice. Presoak it all day or overnight, then you can cook it in about 5 minutes on high in the microwave. Takes a little more water than the pasta, but I do that all the time for rice and other whole grains. What a time saver.

Spare Ribs cooked in the pressure cooker for 20 minutes then finished on the grill are the most tender possible. The biggest problem in preparation is that they tend to fall off the bone while being grilled.
