Having multiple scanners is a good idea, but you don't want to have too many programs actively run all the time.

By Malabytes, do you mean Malwarebytes? It has a pretty good reputation, and the free version is scan only, rather than staying resident all the time (I suppose the paid version can go either way, but I only have the free version.)

Another program I use for scans only is A Squared Free. I find it does get more false positives than the rest, but it rescans the quarantine area every time it updates and gives you a chance to restore the false positives. I like that feature.

If you have a single file or small group of files your concerned about you can try uploading them to virustotal.com and it will scan the file (or files one at a time) with a couple of dozen different anti-virus and anti-malware programs.
