I've had computers I just had to reformat the HD after nuking it, and start over. Not bad nowdays, when all your important info is on the cloud. I think the trick is to keep from getting infected in the first place. I'm using Window's Defender ( from Vista ) by Microsoft, which really seems to do a great job. MS updates it all the time.

Use www.norman.com . Best virus scan or filter around. Those Norwegians know more than oil and lutfisk... Believe me, its as good as the other Norwegian SW product, www.opera.no . Their Opera mini browser is the best thing around for any cellphone or other handset incl. BB. /Taro

>Spoke to soon. Had 5 infections in the last scan. No longer are the scans picking up Virtumonde but its cousin Vundo. At least the number of infections keeps going down with each scan. One infection keeps getting put in quarantine and not deleted. I suspect its attached to some app that is running in normal mode. When I go to the gym, I plan to do a scan in safe mode and see if I can get rid of it that way. What time consuming sh*t this crap is! Vundo SUCKS. I've had a a few times. The best solution I've found for it is a piece of freeware called Combofix. -Z
