"Word, IE, Excel, PP.....but Linux probably has the equivalents. Is Iceweasel the browser?"

Have you checked into Open Office? It runs on Windows, too. It is mostly compatible with the Windows Office suite, but I have seen some PP presentations that don't render properly. Less problems with the word processor and spreadsheets.

Give it a try.

openoffice.org

Or you might want to look into Google Docs and step out into the cloud.

Google 'google docs' and go from there.

"Is Iceweasel the browser?"

Iceweasel is Firefox. Mozilla has a copyright on the names of its products, so the open source community has started to use alternatives. It is still the same code, that is open sourced. Literally the only difference is the names.

I'd quit using IE and switch to FireFox or Chrome for email and the internet. Be sure you use a web-based email service not from MS, like Google mail.

A whole lot of misery has been pumped through IE. I just use it when I have to.
