You think conservatives have stood against spending?

For the most part they have. the problem is that they are only one element of the Republican party (a big one but they don't dominate it), and also politicians, even conservative politicians, face all sorts of incentives to increase spending, so most of the opposition to increased spending from conservatives has come from people who don't actually get a direct vote on that spending.

uh...uh...so you think we need to spend more than the rest of the world COMBINED

We don't spend more than the rest of the world combined, esp. if you count their non-monetary costs through things like imposing a draft) but even if you don't count such things.

Still we spend a lot compared to other countries. Of course a big reason for that is that most other countries have stopped spending much on the military. Part of the reason some of them do so is that to an extent they free ride on us, which is something of a problem, but not a horrible one considering the burden of defense spending on the US is still in a long term downtrend and will likely continue to be in such a trend for the foreseeable future.

Al.. More and more AMERICANS are standing AGAINST excessive TAXING & SPENDING. Unless your living in a cave you have to be aware of the Tea Party events going on around this country. Unless your living in a cave you have to be aware of the townhall events that clearly have shown the anger felt by AMERICANS towards all politicians, from both parties, who feel just fine spending $$'s that our great grandchildren have yet to earn.

You seem awfully comfortable justifying this drive to bankruptcy with ... "well its the fault of GW and all those terrible conservatives" BS.

uh...uh...so you think we need to spend more than the rest of the world COMBINED on the military to be the force of good in the world?

First... we need to spend whatever we need to in order to protect this countries interests. If that were not the case you would be speaking German or Japanese right now instead of English.

Secondly... your data is BS... unless you believe the numbers put out by China and Russia on their defense spending.

Lastly... We are clearly the direction the entire world looks towards when it comes to Freedom and Justice... In spite of the current POTUS who is making a bold attempt at eliminating that.
