<<I speculate the "jaw dropping" stuff is faster machines.>>

That's not jaw-dropping enough. Think differenter.

<<I speculate the "changing how we do business" is the on-line store (including build to order) somehow involving the major distributors.>>

You could be right on here, I think. But there could be more if MSFT chips in again (and LU).

<<I speculate (more of a reach) a network computer tied in with Lucent to sell to big biz and oracle to give it something to do.>>

If there's a God in heaven.

<<This event is for the Mac faithful, not the investment community, IMO.>>

I hope so. The former group is certainly more deserving of good news.

<<I predict the usual runup followed by the usual rundown in the stock price.>>

Could go either way, but don't forget about Christmas.... Could prolong a runup.

<<Any merger news (if there were any) would come before.>>

Like the MSFT pact with AAPL last time? I think Jobs and Ellison are perfectly capable of keeping whatever secrets they need to. They've done that this time.

I've just been informed that the computer center on my campus will have a live downlink of the 11/10 announcement. Thank goodness.

Hang in there!

Mark

Joe e.: Lighten up ! you are confused, investors buy on expectations

Speculators buy on rumors . The anticipated moves coming 11/10/97 are to create a new scenario wherein "desktop" sales are profitable .

AAPL's future is pegged to 2Q server sales which hopefully will be driven by Rhapsody (UNITY) . OS 8 affirmed the faithful .

We investors hope for strategic alliances to be announced 11/10/97 which will make these expectations a reality .

Until then THIMK !
