Clinical Trial Announced: Results in Q1 1998.

TCPI announced a clinical trial with 3000 patients to test the TD Glucose Monitoring System. In the release that appeared in BusinessWire (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/971215/technical_chemicals_1.html) it is stated that the glucose monitoring system market is $2-3 billion and will grow to $5 billion by the turn of the century.

It is interesting to note that the NIH recommends glucose monitoring 4-6 times/day. On average diabetics test less than once a day "citing pain, inconvenience and risk of infection associated with the use of conventional finger stick blood glucose monitoring systems."

I think that we all hope that the patch system will prove to be more tolerable than the finger stick method and as accurate. If this is the case than the TD Glucose Monitoring System will give us the EPS growth that we need.
