I don't know the rate of occupation. Many buildings have sign to let. in 2006 NONE had.

Most of the nuildings with the TO LET signs are outside Dubai Marina.

1 USD= Dhs3.67

My friend is paying for a 2-bedroom apt. Nothing fancy. Dhs 70.000 per year.

A house that was renting for Dhs 150.000 pre-crisis is now renting for 80.000

The taxi drivers told me renting for their area had gone down just 5%!!

What happened most was: peope living in an apt. moved up to a house with same rent.

People living in a two bedroom moved up to a three bedroom and so on.

My friend thinks she will be able to renew for same price. But instead of paying cash one year in advance. Which was pre-crisis way, she will be able to rent putting 12 checks out.

Some people say lessors are alreayd accepting that.

Her lessor, has 32 units such as hers in Marina. Intended to flip. Was left holding the bag. Was forced to rent all of them si8nce mortgage is now his.
