The first time I saw that type of tracks was on a 4 wheel drive civilian tour van, about 4-5 years ago,in Yellowstone in January.

We were there for 3 nights. First morning temp in West yellowstone Village at 5 AM was
-35 degrees. Next 2 mornings it warmed up to -30 degrees.

Still, I recommend a winter trip to Yellowstone.
