I don't know why you are so upset at the bottom 50%

The problem with the bottom 50% is that they are free riders and they control half the vote. Everyone wants to make this into a moral issue or a competitive issue or a resentment issue but, putting aside all that, we find an objective, practical problem, a serious one.

In a system where the central authority transfers money to citizens on the basis of their votes, we reach a critical threshold when those on the receiving end are a majority. There is a real risk of killing the golden goose.

There aren't enough rich people to affect the vote so they don't present the same problem. They may get under our skin just as much or more but they can't bankrupt the country with their votes.
