I would speculate that you are seeing the outcome of liberal echo chambers. It's what you hear from former liberals who saw the light after 9/11. Tammy Bruce is an example. She was so used to access in the media and being around like thinkers that she was literally shocked by the treatment she received after having moved decidedly to the right.

The discussion on the left is couched in touchy feely psychobabblespeak for the most part. Every one wants to feel like they are so good and just out to help.

The problem is that it takes imparting backbone and helping people to help themselves in order to do real good. Creating a permanent underclass, as the Dem policies effectively accomplish, is no help to anyone. That's why they like to talk so much. Talk is cheap and doesn't require accountability. Accomplishment is quite distinct.

The truth is that they want perennial dependents so that they can retain perennial power.
