Polish President, High Level Officials Die In Plane Crash Over Russia The sad news this morning of the Polish President and some of the highest-level leaders in the Polish government over Russia smells rancid to me. Consider that: Polish president Lech Kaczynski was a friend of the US (at least the US as it was before Obama came in and apologized to our enemies while snubbing our allies) 2 words: missile defense. Poland under Kaczynski stuck its neck out for us and was willing to give us whatever we wanted as far as establishing a missile shield against what the Russians wanted Poland was under Russian hegemonic domination for decades, and Kaczynskiwaqs no friend of Russia Besides Kaczynsk, there was an unusually high number of Polish leaders on the plane. Thus if the KGB were going to bring it down it was their opportunity to kill a whole flock of birds with a single stone Poland is one the US's strongest allies having sent troops to Iraq and Afghanistan, something Russia didn't like one bit. Thus, color me suspicious up one side and down the other. The story from the UK Mail Online: Polish president and wife confirmed dead' as plane crashes in Russia Polish president Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria have been killed after their plane crashed on approach to Smolensk airport in western Russia. Pilot error has been blamed for the tragedy after it emerged he turned down the opportunity to land at an alternative runway in thick fog. Witnesses said the pilot made three or four attempts to land before crashing into woodland nearby. ...As news of the tragedy spread, Prime Minister Donald Tusk called an extraordinary meeting of his Cabinet and the national flag was lowered to half-staff at the presidential palace, where people gathered to lay flowers and light candles. And guess who has been put in charge. A 'former' KGB leader: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has been put in charge of a commission investigating the crash, the Kremlin said. And check out this list of other Polish leaders: The president and his wife were on their way to attend a World War Two memorial service. ... A Polish government official said the head of the Polish army and the head of the presidential administration were also on board the plane, along with the president's wife and families of other senior officials. The Army chief of staff, Gen. Franciszek Gagor, National Bank President Slawomir Skrzypek and Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Kremer were on the passenger list. Among others. That's a large number of very high officials. The WW2 memorial service was for the victims of the 1940 Katyn massacre where thousands of 22,000 Polish prisoners of war were murdered by the Soviet NKVD, a massacre that Russia has never apologized for.
