There are people who retire at 45 with half their pay or more -- they are called sir in the military. Now you tell me, should a military officer get a pension of that sort? I don't know -- I did not want to serve in that capacity -- did you? How about a fireman -- do you offer to spend your life running into burning buildings? Or a policeman in one of the godforesaken cities of America where getting shot is more than a theoretical possibility on any given day on the job.

Now lets cut to the chase -- the attack on public pensions is a total red herring -- a distraction at best. A propaganda campaign at its worst.
