You're talking to a guy who wanted to be an astronaut. I'm ALL for expanding into space, but the cost will keep that as only a dream WAY before Earth's over-population by humans becomes so obvious even pols can't pretend it isn't a problem. We limit the numbers of "harmful" species - we're the MOST harmful by far. By the time society catches up with me, I predict the species we share the Earth will will be half or less what they are now - because of us. I think the cure will come in the form of a engineered virus that causes sterility and has to be "cured" for a woman to be able to reproduce.
