No, his feelings were rarely in sync. He loathed Reagan, after all, and he was always an atheist (and they say there are no atheists in foxholes- ha!)

And the majority at the time also decided to intern the Japanese, but not the Germans- yeah- not such great decisions during WWII- and a lot of the bad decision making, imo, turned on race. You can say that was just typical of the time- and I'd agree, but again, it's not excuse, it's only a reason.

The folks who disagreed with witch burning were probably also not in sync with their times- but sometimes it's a little more evolved and rational not to be in sync. When I look at places where atrocities have happened, I respect the folks who were not in sync, rather than the ones who happily went long with the atrocity, or who didn't voice their reservations.
