Many eaters are also eaten by somebody. Kahawai eat herrings, and are eaten by kingfish. Spiders and other predatory arthropods are eaten by birds. Spiders have many different eye arrangements, but I think most have "eyes in the back of their heads". Many ants, interestingly, are virtually blind (the workers, anyway). They use chemical signals, mostly chemotactic.

I'd like to know more about mantis eyes. They follow you closely when you are in their vicinity. I've sometimes observed a black spot like a pupil that seems to move independently.
