petz.

you make fine points in that the sophistication, and the
experience of a buyer will impact the importance of whether
or not intel is a requirement. further, that the corporate sell
is a diffferent one than the private sector. the intel practice
of subsidizing is exactly what buoys sales for "ma and pa"
outlets, without fail. as to the hobbyist, there is the chance
that larger outlets ( as we have seen posted here ) will have
the confidence, and the purchasing clout to support the newer
options...best buy, computer city, fry's, staples, comp usa, etc.
come to mind. i imagine it is there, if not through mail order, that hobbyists, along with the repeat buyer, the second computer
buyer, and the buyer in search of value will shop.

i will soon take a trip to one , if not more of these stores: i will be
curious to see if anything can be learned about christmas sales.
unfortunately, past experience has shown that little information,
if any, may actually be had from their sales personnel.

i wish i had some sense of when boxes will be shipped which
have the winchip on board....
