<is all this negative hype scaring away customers from SGI machines?>

This is my greatest concern as well. The press loves to keep kicking a dog when it is down. If they would just let up, and say nothing at all, I think things could come back a little sooner. I remember back when IBM was 20 (post-split) and it was very hard to find one good article written about the company. Well that was IBM and it has a little more staying power. Our best bet would to have less press coverage at this time. For every sentence SGI pays to promote the companies products, the press can write 100 telling everyone what a loser it is. It's hard to believe all this bashing doesn't hurt sales somewhat.
