The Colbert Report had on the founder of "Wiki Leak," a whistleblowers forum. The guy admitted to doctoring the photos he presents for "the greatest political impact." Viewers can see the original video, but only 10% choose to do so. Folks, this isn't journalism or whistle blowing. It is scamming the gullible. Michael Moore does the same sort of crap, which is why I never watch his movies. The fact that Fox News does it without even offering a look at the real thing is no excuse for others to use their techniques. Even my favorite magazine, The Nation, did it this month. They showed a graph of income taxes showing that the marginal rate for income above $400,000 was 90% in the 1950s and only 35% in 2010. Another case of lying with statistics. The numbers are true. But they do not report how much more money $400,000 was in those days that it is today. That is comparing apples and Goodyear Blimps. BTW, a 1955 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow cost $16,000 in 1955. The 2010 Rolls Royce Phantom costs around $400,000 today. That would make the spending power of 1955's $400,000 about $10 million today.

The Catholic church has already admitted to and apologized for the abuse cases and cover ups. It has also already instituted changes to its recruiting procedures and the procedures for handling such cases in the future. There have been cases for a long time and there will continue to be cases forever because that's the nature of man, but most of the cases occurred between the 60s-80s. Since that time there has been an enormous statistical decline in the number of new cases. The improvement accelerated after the issue was brought to light by the press (where they actually partially did us all a favor). This was verified by independent sources that are actually hostile to the church. The only debate that remains is why the media continues to attack with biased spin and lies about the number of cases relative to other public and religious institutions, about the cover ups elsewhere, about how cases were handled historically relative to now, about the details and causes of the problems, why it refuses to report on cases among Rabbis etc.. and other public institutions with same vigor etc... The answer to that is obvious. You guys can't admit it though because of your own politics and agenda. The left wing hates the Catholic church because it teaches that homosexual behavior is a sin, it is against same sex marriage, it is pro life, it won't allow women to become priests, it is anti birth control, anti planned parenthood etc... It also stands for objective morality instead of moral relativism. It stands for almost everything the left hates. So instead of doing the just thing, reporting the un-spun truth and trying to round up the small percentage of pedophile priests, the scores of abusive homosexual priests, the pastors and bishops that covered their tracks on the occasions they knew better, and trying to prompt the church to give better care to the victims, they are trying to destroy the church both financially and through the lies and spins. What is happening is no different than the dirty politics that occurs in presidential and other elections between the left and right. The church damaged itself, but the left is trying to take the whole house down. I hope my agnostic and atheist tendencies prove wrong and there actually is a hell, because if there is, the left and Catholic Church haters will surely burn in the same room as the abusive priests.
