SGS-Thomson and Mitsubishi join forces on DINOR flash memory. Anyone know if DINOR is covered by SNDK's patents?

biz.yahoo.com

Extract: "''Through the joint development of these products, we will launch 64Mbit memories in volume during 1999.''

Since 1993 Mitsubishi Electric and SGS-THOMSON have worked together by sharing information and expertise and have created their own portfolios of Flash memory products. The two companies have jointly developed 0.5 micron process technology for the 16Mbit first generation of Flash memories. The experience and reciprocal knowledge acquired during this period has led to the extension of the collaboration between the two companies. SGS- THOMSON has developed a full line of Flash memory devices based on the NOR-type architecture, which addresses principally the code storage market with densities up to 16Mbit, while Mitsubishi Electric has developed a Flash memory portfolio based on the DINOR-type architecture, focusing mainly on 8 and 16Mbit densities. As part of the extension of the agreement, SGS-THOMSON will also promote the DINOR product family."
