Even during non boom times, real estate has been expensive in countries like China and India. They seem out of whack and continued to confound many people who think Real Estate will go down (it may correct but not crash , IMO - as long as economic forecasts hold). Even with lot of poverty, there is a strong middle class to rich class not hesitating to fork up money (40% down or more) to gobble up real estate assets.
