Talking about starving the beast........this past weekend, the Polish president and a number of top Poles were killed in a plane crash in Russia. In reading about the event, I noted that the plane the president was riding was one of those Russian pieces of crap that crash if you look at it the wrong way. Their lack of quality is legend in the flying world. To add insult to injury, the plane was 26 years old.....past what is considered their flying peak. Now you have to wonder what is the president of Poland doing flying in such a questionable relic. The Polish president was a serious conservative....a fiscal conservative in the way the GOP claims they are but aren't. The reason the president was flying in this sh*tbox was because he didn't feel Poland could afford to buy a new plane. Now there is such a thing as being penny wise and pound foolish. While I don't think the plane went down due to mechanical failure, I think it would have been the height of irony had that been the problem. Just sayin'.
