MM, one needs to be circumspect about misunderestimating people who might superficially seem "easy meat". Sometimes, lame ducks are being deceptive and are not really lame. I recall listening to the boxing commentators excitedly saying that Muhammad Ali was on the ropes, as though it was game over for him. In fact, it was deception. When I saw it myself later, I wondered what the ridiculous commentators thought was happening. There was Cassius, leaning calmly back in the ropes, teasing his assailant. Then coming out fast and furious with a ruinous fusillade.

It's better to be friendly first up, on the good old tit for tat principle.

I notice, for example, that there has been more of a surge in Afghanistan under Barack's watch than there was under King George II's. Barack has not cut and run. He doesn't look like a pushover and certainly, the vast armada and fleets of aircraft and a lot more besides is something for contrarians to be wary of provoking.

People who are hell bent on appearing manly and scary are all too often anything but. It's normally a cover for fear and weakness. Very often, dinkum heroes appear to be anything but until their trial by fire arrives.
