ESC Medical Systems and Laser Industries are merging.

Here is a link to news report by an Israeli paper:

globes.co.il

The article claims that the merged company will have revenues next
year of $250 million, mainly in medical lasers. In contrast, Coherent
had 1996 medical revenues of $163 million. Both ESCMF and LASRF have
significantly greater operating margins than Coherent's medical
segment.

ESCMF manufactures the EpiLight flash-lamp hair removal system. LASRF
manufactures the EpiTouch ruby laser hair removal system. In my
opinion neither is significantly better or worse than Palomar's
EpiLaser, in terms of hair removal efficacy.
