Politics is too important to leave it to only the politicians, the military is too important to leave it to only the generals, and the law/SC is too important to leave it to only the lawyers.

BTW, if you had hired an historian instead of a lawyer, you would have been told there were no Spanish land grants on the Eel. Ouch!!

You are probably right about that--I did have to research a property dispute on the upper San Francisco Bay between two adjacent land owners (one of the first actual cases I worked on) that bordered on the Bay wherein the titling and boundaries started with the Spanish Land Grants, but I don't think the Spaniards land Claims extended too far North of SF though--now that you mention it. But if I had made river one that was in the original Spanish claim (the Sacramento?) you would have been good to go. Also the problem, tracing water/fishing extraction rights back for adjacent (to the water course) land owners and the subsequent impact of Federal and State Legislation on their original rights would not at all be an atypical question--nor also the given turn around time. Just wanted to give you the flavor of this thing since you are maintaining you are competent to perform in this area.
