If you really have a taste for law you can still "read" law with an attorney in California. You're his Legal "Boy Friday" and he has to have enough time to spend with you to teach you stuff and at the end of either 1 year or 18 months (can't remember) you have to pass a "baby bar" (state test) that shows you are well versed enough in 4 subjects to go on to the next level. 3 more years of "reading" and you can sit for the real bar. Probably a lot easier now to do with the internet, but you've really got to be a self starter.
