HATBORO, Pa., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- NextLevel Systems, Inc. (NYSE: NLV) Broadband Networks Group announced today that CS Wireless Systems, Inc. has placed orders for NextLevel's MPEG -2 digital network system technology and equipment for its wireless digital video deployment in San Antonio. This area has 440,000 line-of-sight homes that can be served using the digital wireless system. The launch of this market follows CS Wireless' previously announced plans to launch in the Dallas market with NextLevel equipment.
NextLevel will provide CS Wireless with a complete end-to-end solution, including digital wireless consumer set-top terminals with telco return path capability, related headend equipment and systems integration services. Video programming sources for the system will include a combination of digital satellite content, including programming provided by TelQuest, and local MPEG - 2 encoded content. This system will serve as the foundation for CS Wireless' service offerings, such as digital-quality video and audio, more channels, and a range of services including an Electronic Program Guide, Internet access over television, impulse pay-per-view and educational services.
