Aye, there's the "rub". The problems (of making sure that --- within the defined degree of mathematical error --- your sample accurately reflects the larger population you are targeting, and that it is a sub-set of) are always there with most any sample. Getting a representative sample is always difficult... and it can become more then usually difficult (as the example given here about reaching people at phone numbers in the daytime or nighttime, or people with cell phones but not fixed lines...) if your target population is especially elusive or difficult to reach for some reason.
