At the SC level hard science seldom comes into play--those hard science cases are mostly over in the patent division. Most likely any factual questions regarding the hard science would have been dealt with at the trial level by appointing a "Special Master" --an expert in the field--to resolve the science of the facts.

Not that the attitude that accompanies a scientist wouldn't be helpful in providing a more diverse approach up there--if that was your point.

Although I have known scientists that have become lawyers I have not known any that became jurists, but I suppose there must be some somewhere.
