Matty,

If you bought a share that was shorted naked and asked for the certificate what would happen at the DTC? Do they go out to the original person who shorted the share or do they give you a certificate from inventory.

Lets say the DTC gave you shares from their inventory. Now all the shares are used up. What if you owned a real share that was never shorted naked. If they traced the share to the original holder it would be a valid share. Who would cover that share?
