I agree. I think determining if a politician is fiscally conservative or not should be done on a case by case basis. Claiming that one party vs another is fiscally conservative is too easy and belies the reality. What I do is check the voting record of my elected officials.....all three of them. And when one of my senators made some positve comments re. earmarks [pork], she heard from me. Like with an employee, you have to monitor the behavior of your elected officials on a regular basis.

Sure, but I don't echo the Republican party line to the letter. In fact, I think Bush and the Republican Congress at the time was a miserable failure when it came to fiscal conservatism.

Doesn't mean I should vote for the guy who is worse, or fall for his smooth, intelligent-sounding B.S.
