The "green light" to do what, exactly? At this point, Netanyahu has been treated like crap by the nitwit in the WH, and he damned well ought to do whatever he deems appropriate.

But it is not clear that Israel can do anything about this problem on its own.

The GOP had no compunction on starting two wars without paying for either. I have no doubt they will have no problem in starting another war against Iran also without paying for it.

My point wasn't about them paying for it. It was about them starting the war. They were discussing it on Morning Joe the other day. Even the R's say that we just can't get away with starting a third war in that part of the world. The optics are just too terrible. The discussion was in the context of what we can do about Iran, which is essentially nothing.

Of course, if they can't start the war, paying for it is moot.

don't underestimate the GOP willingness to spend money on foreign adventures in the pursuit of their oil ambitions.

The only oil country we might get away with attacking would be Venezuela but that's not likely.

You seem to be taking the position that they're predisposed to do it so they will do it. I'm suggesting that, whatever their proclivities, no matter how much you despise them for said proclivities, they won't do it because they can't. Look how hard they had to work to get the country to reluctantly go along with Iraq. They had to scare folks half to death with their bogus WMD. What could they come up with to give them that much leverage again? Nothing. It takes more than motive. They have to be able to act on it. That means they also need means and opportunity. So be realistic and save your energy for realistic threats.
