Larry,

>>If you take Fido's top ten holdings for each Select Fund,
plot them in aggregate against the fund's performance the correlation is very, very high.<<

If I understand you correctly, I think I'm using the same technique. But let me tell you, this is not really an exact science...<g>

For example; the top ten of FBIOX today went up only .37% but to my surprize at the end of the day,the fund wound up a hefty 1.64%

This reminds me of the universe.. It's the "DARK MATTER" that matters...:-)

Larry, wonderful post with many new ideas (they are new only for me, of course). You are doing what I just started to do, i.e. following the price movements of the top ten. Several questions (considerations):

1)Isn't it better to watch fund's moves instead of watching it's holdings (weighed? or not?)? They are updated every hour.

2)As I understood your tactics, you trade several positions, keeping each for more than 29 days and selling it on the first (counting from the 30th you've hold the position) top day thereafter and moving it to the MM to wait for new entry point. Is that correct?

3)<< strong research group like FMR and the Fido Select funds that trade on their research>>
Could you provide more details on this research group?

Thank you.

Viktor.

P.S. Last but not least question: what is your historic average return with this tactics?

Larry, Just a thought or two, gg

I would have to admit that you had more than a thought or two, and all seemed very good. You obviously have done your homework and it is rewarding you. Congratulations !!!

I do agree with you. The future looks great for fsesx, fbiox, and the like. Knowing when to buy/sell is something that very few if any really can say they do with 100% confidence. I believe that a buy and hold strategy in a strong industry is the safest and most logical way to increase your chances of success.

Of course one can make very educated guesses and hope for the best. Personally, I am in no hurry and try to keep a long horizon.

Remember who won the race between the turtle and the hare??

Good Luck,

Dennis
