Wrong, just about all the electric mfgs are getting substantial government money to get this stuff off the ground, including Nissan for the Leaf and it's batteries.

Not wrong.

As I said, Nissan already had multiple electrics in the pipeline, without a nickel from the government.

That the US government (under Bush) came along AFTER THE FACT and gave them a low interest loan (which will have to be repaid, BTW) has no bearing. At the time they began developing these vehicles there was not even the slightest discussion of these payoffs.

It is obscene for the government to be confiscating money from taxpayers and stealing money from future generations to fork over to these companies. The loans are bad, but nothing like the massive subsidies they're doling out to pay for 1/3 or 1/4 the cost of these cars.

It is pathetic. Nissan will build these electrics when the market dictates -- and that market had dictated a release next year with or without US government kickbacks.
