This may not be the place to ask. And I am an admitted neophyte. But what does it mean "Shorts Cover"?

Thanks,
Mark

Today's spotlight on SI lists borland closed at 52 week high (10-7/8). Yahoo shows 52 week range as 4-3/4 to 11-1/2. Who should I believe? Does this affect charting?

Ghassan, off topic. Now that both SIII and USS are trading near their 52 week lows, what is your near and medium term observation? I have done quite well with both of them in the past but currently watching them from sidelines. Thanks in advance,

JK

Ghassan,

You post in part: >> Whereas 10 was a "psychological" resitance once broken it vanished, 11 is a real "technical" one and would require several attempts to conquer for good i.e. closing above 11 for several days. <<

Thanks for getting back to me.

I would very much appreciate your telling us why you think 11 is the real technical breakout point, unless you are basically saying that once we get out of the 10s, then we have smoothe sailing. I agree with you.

If you go to BIGCHARTS.COM, you can bring up a chart that shows volume by price going back any number of years. I looked at the 3-year and 5-year charts. In both, the 11 level is one where about the least volume occurred. The 10 level is big, and so is the 13-14 level. (I tried to give a URL to these charts, but it didn't work).
The following URL is to my basic entry point. Just use the Indicator and Time Frame screens to set up what I am talking about:

bigcharts.com

Borland performed well today. Let's hope the market holds up, and the stock punches thru the 11 1/2 level. If both do, Borland should go to about 13 near-term.

Sam

trading at 11 1/2 with an hour to go on over 1m volume. I think the resistance has been well and truly broken today!!
