I suspect you may be right. And they want to be sure it REALLY needs to be done, too.

As you say, the American Revolutionaries fought against overwhelming odds. But, not nearly as overwhelming as Americans today would face. The Brits didn't have tanks, helicopters, automatic weapons, trained "black" forces, or total control of the Revolutionaries' finances. Back then, people could hide, change their names, and move around freely without being observed.
