SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Attorney General Edmund Brown Jr. of California on Monday said the state will take Moody's to court to force it to explain its rating decisions. The move comes seven months after Brown subpoenaed Moody's but the firm has refused to comply. "The state's subpoena seeks information regarding Moody's decision to give its highest credit ratings to securities backed by risky and toxic mortgage-backed securities," Brown said.
