Looking for, not finding my copy of interview with Bill Miller wherein he says, essentially, the number of analysts who actually follow the companies they are assigned to is small. Most/many analysts follow the lead of one or two other analysts on a particular stock.
So that in effect, if one assumes a large cap stock is well-covered from all aspects because many analysts are assigned to it and delve into it, that is not the case.
