It looks frivolous (dumb) to me but I'm willing to let the court decide. If the University just released the information, Palin could sue them. I would be surprised if they folded that easily. That's what a privacy clause is for.

"Citing a privacy clause in her contract and a state law that shields public university foundations from the Public Records Act, the university’s Stanislaus Foundation has declined to disclose how much it will pay Ms. Palin to speak at a June 25 fund-raising event."
