No, largely because both countries interests don't diverge enough so this is likely.

That isn't something that can be relied on over the long term. Also its partially something that exists because of the ICBMs. Moves in the direction of war become nearly unthinkable because of the nuclear weapons and their effective delivery methods, the whole strategic mindset and analysis of interests and how to further them, is formed in the context of these weapons. Earlier, war was avoided when the interests where more divergent, in large part because of nukes.
