Too blanket a statement. Certainly the SEC action commenced against GS is an leading (more actions to come?) indicator that the picture on regulation is mixed.

Once also has to wonder if the Republicans even have a clue on the regulation issue ("sure they're crooks that cook the books, but they're our crooks!)(we need freedom to cheat!)--it certainly is going to be a heavily debated issue in the runup to the November mid-terms. Wall Street will need the forbearance of winning Democrats (not that they will get that much), and Democrats will pretty much be for regulations that won't sink us again (transparency on derivative trades).
