To deny that unemployment insurance conditions people to not work, comes from one whose observations don't go beyond the fishbowl in which they live.

Anyone who lives in an area where tourism is vital to it's economy, knows better.

If weather conditions are such that there are parts of the year where work is not to be found, guess what becomes an important supplement?

And, in many instances, the decision over going back to work (when the weather becomes more friendly), becomes difficult because of unemployment insurance.

That's a fact!

Do you deny that that is a factor?

An insignificant one. We don't have 10% unemployment suddenly because a few millions people suddenly realized that they could collect unemployment.

But then my brain isn't limited to the binary.

No...i'd say your brain is the kind that sees the negative in things. The world is out to screw you kind of attitude. It doesn't matter that the vast majority of people are struggling to find work, care for their family and sincerely contribute to society...to folks like you it's more important to point out that a handful might be "gaming the system"...
